Dublin has a rich history and a lot of monuments to show for itself. The prosperity of the British Empire in the 18th century can still been seen in the splendour of some mansions build in that era. Also an important monument in Irish history is the GPO (general post office) on O’Connell Street where Patrick Pearse, James Connolly and Michael Collins acclaimed the Independence of Ireland in 1916. Some of the best of Dublin’s churches are St. Patrick’s Cathedral (whose most famous Dean was writer, Jonathan Swift) and Christ Church Cathedral (originally constructed in 1038 but has been rebuilt many times since).

The theatre of ancient Rome refers to dramatic performances performed in Rome and the its dominions during classical antiquity.

Ancient Roman theatre was heavily influenced by the Greek tradition, and as with many other literary genres Roman dramatists tended to adapt and translate from the Greek. For example, Seneca’s Phaedra was based on that of Euripides, and many of the comedies of Plautus were direct translations of works by Menander. When comparing and contrasting ancient Roman theatre to that of Greek theatre it can easily be said that Roman theatre was less influenced by religion. Also, Roman theatre was more for aesthetic appeal. In Roman theatre war was a more common thing to appear on stage as opposed to the Greek theatre where the plays were mimed and repetitive. The actors developed a kind of code that would tell the audience about the characters just by looking at them.

The square developed in the 17-th century as a wagon park for farmers and peasants to leave their carts here before entering the city centre. The name is because of Leidsepoort, which once marked the end of the main road from Amsterdam in Netherlands to Leiden. Nowadays, Leidseplein is a busy tram intersection and centre of night-time transport.Leidseplein is one of Amsterdam’s popular centers for nightlife, with theatres, lots of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, the casino, the Lido theatre with live entertainment and music centres Paradiso and Melkweg. Street musicians, jugglers, fire-eaters and other performers make the square a lively place until the early hours, especially on warm summer evenings, when you can get there also a henna tattoo.

GERMAN SIGHT SCENE – Built in 1791, the Brandenburg Gate has become a symbol of Berlin’s past. Prussian parades and German armies marched through its threshold. Napoleon marched his troops through its columns before his defeat in Russia. Barricades were erected around the gates when the Berlin Wall was constructed, but in 1989 the Brandenburg Gate was reopened and traffic now passes through it every day. Over the years, it has become a proud monument to German history.
